Office of Equal Opportunity
The Optometry Student Services & Enrollment Management Office is a liaison office for the following University student supports & resources.
Optometry students who would like to learn more about the University of Detroit Mercy’s commitment to equal access for all students in our educational programs and activities can visit the Office of Equal Opportunity which oversees the following areas:
Title IX
- Title IX: Reporting Sex-Based Harassment or Discrimination
- Report sex-based discrimination, misconduct, or assault
- Students can also access information on university support for counseling, crisis response, and inclusive spaces.
Student Accessibility Services
Optometry students who would like to learn more about the University of Detroit Mercy’s resources and available tools to support students with disabilities can visit Student Accessibility Services which provides students with guidance on seeking learning accommodations. Students can contact Student Accessibility Services to:
- Request Accommodations for the first-time
- Renew Accommodations for previously approved accommodations to carry forward into the new semester
- Report an issue with your accommodations or report discrimination
Health & Wellness Resources
Optometry students who need to enroll in the university-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan can access enrollment information.
Students who need to visit the Wellness Center can access information, hours, and process for scheduling an appointment for the Health Clinic and Personal Counseling.
All Optometry students are also immediately enrolled in TimelyCare, which offers free virtual support for your medical & mental, 24/7, 365 days a year. To access your TimelyCare subscription, go to TBD link or download the TimelyCare app on your phone, and sign in using your school email address (@udmercy.edu). In addition to scheduling doctor appointments or speaking with a counselor, students can also access a 24-hour crisis line, self-care content including meditation and yoga, and even meet with a health coach to work on things like nutrition, building good sleep habits and time management.
