A charming suburb located just northwest of Detroit, the city of Novi strikes a perfect balance between suburban serenity and urban-ease, providing a fantastic mix of outdoor activities, shopping, arts and entertainment. Home to Detroit Mercy's Novi Campus, the city's location offers easy access to major highways, conveniently making it a short drive to a number of nearby attractions in other southeast Michigan communities, as well as Detroit.

Arts and Culture

Novi offers several notable events throughout the year as well as venues that highlight the city's culture, diversity and community engagement. Below are just a few.

  • Music: Enjoy family-friendly performances featuring musical entertainment, magicians, dancers and more, which take place May through October at the 150-seat amphitheater in Fuerst Park and Lakeshore Park. Or listen to lively music from great area bands on select days throughout the summer in the covered pavilion at Paradise Park, brought to you by the Friends of the Novi Library
  • Festivals: Perhaps one of the most noteworthy summer festivals in Novi is Asianfest Michigan, where one can experience the vivid mosaic of Asian heritage through music, dance and delightful Asian cuisine. In September, art lovers swarm Novi for the annual Art & Apples Festival where over 300 artists display their work while visitors enjoy live music, children’s activities and, of course, everything apple!
  • Theatre: The Novi Youth Theatre partners with In the Mitten Productions to offer an excellent youth theatre program with fantastic productions from fall to spring each year. Or attend a live performance promoting local and upcoming artists at the Tipping Point Theatre and immerse yourself in a wide range of vibrant, diverse, and thought-provoking programming.

  • Art: Explore the public art gallery at the Novi Civic Center Atrium. The gallery provides local artists the opportunity to display their work throughout the year in special exhibits. Or spend an imaginative afternoon contemplating the outdoor sculpture exhibits at Fuerst Park and Villa Barr Art Park.

Parks and Outdoors

For outdoor enthusiasts, Novi boasts over 1,400 acres of parkland and 13 developed parks with plenty of outdoor spaces for recreation and leisure.

  • A favorite destination for folks of all ages is Lakeshore Park, a beautiful 79-acre park on Walled Lake (the largest lake in Novi) with sandy beaches popular for swimming in the summer, picnic areas and children's playgrounds. The park's mountain bike trail is approximately 10 miles long with terrain suitable for both the intermediate and experienced rider. An extensive network of wider trails ideal for walking, family biking and cross-country skiing is also offered.
  • For the ballers, ITC Community Sports Park is known as the premier soccer and baseball complex in the area, hosting many tournaments throughout the year. Pickleball and tennis courts as well as basketball courts are also located within the park.
  • Maybury State Park is a 1,000-acre haven with gently rolling meadows of wildflowers bustling with wildlife and mature forests. The park offers a variety of outdoor adventures for all ages and interests, including trails open to hiking, cross-country skiing, mountain biking and horseback riding.
  • Enjoy your next round of golf at Links of Novi Singh, a 27-hole upscale public golf course.

Shopping

A shopper's paradise, it’s easy to fill an entire day browsing the plethora of shopping options around town.

  • The premier shopping attraction is the massive Twelve Oaks Mall located right off I-96. One of the largest malls in Michigan, this mall contains over 180 stores, including department stores like Macy’s and Nordstrom as well as retailers like Apple and Tesla.
  • West Oaks Shopping Center on Novi Road, located directly across from Twelve Oaks Mall, is a neighborhood favorite and hosts lots of big box stores.
  • Twelve Mile Crossing at Fountain Walk is an open-air shopping center where shopping, food and fun come together. 
  • For shoppers looking for deals and bargains, Novi Town Center features retailers like TJ Maxx, Boot Barn and Men's Wearhouse.
